April 2, 2020

Dear Ladies:

The OWGA Board has voted to cancel the rest of the 2019-2020 season after hearing of Governor DeSantis executive order for our state’s more than 21 million residents to largely stay at home starting tomorrow, April 3, 2020 at 12:01 AM. The safety of our membership continues to be our most important concern.

These are truly unprecedented times and for the first time since World War II, there will be no 2019-2020 OWGA Champion.

Your OWGA board (both current and future) will be meeting digitally to work out the details for the annual payouts based on current point totals and how to best collect next year’s dues. Albertha, Fran and Susie will also start working on next year’s schedule, as they cancel the remainder of this year’s play dates. Please support them by speaking with your local club pros about getting us on their schedule at a similar time frame/rate as this past season.

Also we would like to thank Fran Clinkscales, Janet Van Slyke, Tisha Gentry, Linda Chen, and Amie Mitchell who have stepped in to fill the positions that have opened up.  We still need a Guest Day Chairperson/Course and also one more Club Representative, so raise your hand if you are interested by contacting Albertha Hicks at tennissen@aol.com

We are all disappointed with the early end of our OWGA season. Your patience and understanding are much appreciated. We are all in this together and by adopting a spirit of co-operation, the OWGA Board believes we can successfully deal with the many challenges that lie ahead for all of us.

We pledge to continue to communicate any and all important OWGA information with our members to the best of our ability. Please continue to check the website. In the meantime; stay safe, stay healthy and stay home!

The OWGA Board
