I don’t know if you feel it out there, but our overall pace of play has improved dramatically this year. Kudos to all!! Why even leaving Championsgate yesterday, the ranger commented on our wonderful pace of play! This was without even asking!

Truly an accomplishment I think we all thought was unattainable, our pace of play is averaging below 4:20. Even during the Handicap Tournament! Our longest pace of play has been at the Waldorf, at no more than 4:30. And let’s talk about the Waldorf – first round of the major, a longer and challenging course, and a downpour mid round.

Are you feeling the joy and excitement? This has been such a sore point for years, often leading to an excuse for leaving OWGA. So feel good about your commitment to increasing the fun of the game. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Again, you can keep the pace going by being ready when it is your turn, or even playing ready golf. Don’t over read your putts, I find that usually my first impression of the green is the most accurate. If you need to pick up the pace because you have fallen behind due to the rare occurrence of a poor shot, or poor decision, (haha haha) split into a twosome, or have the two who finish the hole first go to the next tee while the other two are finishing their putts.

You don’t have to run, fret or get crazy. Just be aware, have fun, and keep moving!
