Come on Albertha!!!! Show us some mercy! In two days of stellar play, Albertha Hicks has managed to give herself a cool lead of ten strokes – shooting 67 net today. Why she might even be able to stop and have a manicure at the turn next week! (Just kidding – besides, no slow play!)

Heathrow proved to be formidable. The move to fast greens and lots of water caused some previous leaders to stumble a little. Only Marci Likens registered under 30 putts and only 8 players bettered their scores from yesterday! While there are still 18 holes to go, the race is on for second place. Only 4 strokes separate 2nd from 10th place – Wow! Fun times. There was still some slower play going on, although the vast majority got in in 4:30 hours or less. If you would like to find out more about how you can “keep the party moving”, let me know.

But there’s still next week.  Timacuan has been known for fast greens as well as multiple opportunities to get in trouble! The tee sheet is on the website, but the starting holes are not available yet. I expect to get that update tomorrow. We will try to do less doubling up on the tees (truly up to the club and their tee sheet needs.) A 9AM shotgun will let some of us sleep in a little and as has been the case in the first two days, you will be able to preorder your lunch. We will have happy hour prices, so get prepared to toast the winner and each other!

Perhaps the biggest winner has been the format and camraderie we have seen throughout the past two days. While shotgun starts are not optimal (we all like starting on 1), the result of everyone getting in at the same time and sharing stories, laughs, and the results has been met with a resounding YES! It has been a good opprtunity for some newer members (a little over 20% of the field) to get to know us veterans and vice versa. This is the community of OWGA! Why even one of the cart guys told me how nice our group is!

If you would like to play at Timacuan “after the field” ( Part of the 9AM Shotgun), let me know soon and before Friday at noon. We can accommodate up to 16 more players! And you too can stay and celebrate!

Thank you to all who are participating and helping out the tournament. You are all “the bomb”! See you next week.
