The 2017 OWGA Championship has come to a close with some really exciting finishes!
Mission Inn is the perfect course to host our final round of the Championship. It offers just the right amount of difficulty, along with a serene, beautiful setting.
Congratulations to Meg Giusti for her 3-peat! Meg and Linda Dillon were tied going into the final round, and Meg edged out Linda by three strokes. Meg was also our Tournament Medalist by shooting an awesome 73 the first round!
Susie Keane came out on top of the 1st flight with a stellar 78, topping Sharon Baerenklau by one stroke.
The 2nd flight was so close it had to have a tie breaker for both 1st and 2nd places, as well as 3rh and 4th places. Janet Van Slyke edged out Paulette Driscoll by shooting a 46 on the back nine, over Paulette’s 47. Barbara Lazar won the tie breaker with a 44 on the back nine to take 3rd place, over Kim Stepp who shot 46.
The 3rd flight had three players tied going into the final round. Sue Park shot a very nice 85 to capture first place. We had to have a tie breaker between three other players for the other payouts, with Marci Likens shooting a 42 on the back nine to win the tie breaker for 2nd place, followed by Jenna Butler in 3rd and Miran Kim in 4th.
Lesley Lincoln was our 4th flight’s wire to wire winner. Lesley had all three rounds in the 80’s….the only one in that flight to accomplish that feat. Yvonne Sandoval maintained 2nd place, followed by Sheryl Meitin, Debbie Bizal and Karen Pufky.
